The Umbel Journal is an independent editorial website about the wild buckwheats, the genus Eriogonum, and the dry gardens of the American West, published in English at eriogonum.org. The journal sells nothing, carries no advertising and belongs to no nursery, no seed company and no plant society.

Editor and publisher

The site is edited by The Umbel Journal editorial team, reachable at [email protected]. Articles are signed by the editorial team and written in the third person. Organizations mentioned on the site, including the Eriogonum Society now publishing at eriogonum.community, are described from the outside and have no editorial say in these pages.

Intellectual property

Text and layout are the property of their author. Photographs are produced for the journal. Readers may quote short passages with attribution and a link to the quoted page. The journal names its public sources in the articles themselves; it claims no rights over those sources and quotes them only for commentary and reference.

Hosting and technical notices

The site is served as static pages through the Cloudflare network. This legal notice does not constitute a contract with any reader. The journal's pages name no registered trademark as its own.

Data and privacy

The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics of its own, displays no advertising trackers and asks readers for no personal data. The contact email is used only to answer the messages sent to it. Standard server logs kept by the hosting network exist for security and abuse purposes and are not used to profile readers.

Historical addresses

This domain previously carried the Eriogonum Society's website and, later, pages unrelated to botany. The journal redirects old society addresses that carried real subject matter to the closest journal pages, and returns gone responses for the rest. The redirection table is maintained by the editorial team and can be corrected by email.
